University of Washington archaeologist, Dr. Julie Stein, traces ancient habitation of San Juan Island in this guided walk on the American Camp prairie. Meets at Alaska Packer’s Rock at the end of the Salmon Banks Road. Park in the main parking area.

This is a free guided walking tour of selected sites from the downtown historic district. Participants will need to be able to walk comfortably on town sidewalks, including some hills, for 1.5 hours. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather. Reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance of the tour. Tours will be canceled if insufficient reservations are received by 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Printed self-guided walking tour guides are available at local book stores, or for purchase at the start of the tour. Purchase is optional.
