Centennial Celebration – American Legion Memorial Day Parade

On November 11, 1921, a granite memorial – the first of its kind in the State of Washington – was erected at the foot of Spring Street to commemorate the nine San Juan Island servicemen who were lost in World War I. The monument is now showcased by Memorial Park, renovated and expanded in 2006. The parade this Memorial Day will begin at the American Legion hall on First Street North and end at the park, where Veteran dignataries and speakers will be assembled.
