Directed by John E. Davis

As Friday Harbor celebrates its 100th birthday in 2009, it seems most fitting that the Theatre celebrates one of the most frequently produced and beloved plays by an American playwright.

Thornton Wilder’s Our Town premieres on the Whittier Stage February 26 and continues for a total of 10 performances through March 13.

Set in the early 20th century, one of the play’s main themes is certainly “carpe diem”: the importance of seizing the day and living life to its fullest. Through its characters, it explores individuals’ roles in their family and community. “It is an eternal story about the family of man and his place in the universe,” said director John E. Davis.
