When the Northwest’s Nick Vagarino takes to the Whittier stage on Saturday, February 20, get ready for some funky groovin’ blues. Bo Diddley said of Nick’s acoustic guitar playing: “That slide is naaasty!!” A fusion of Chicago and Delta blues, Nick’s style features slashing slide guitar, powerful vocals, funky licks, modern lyrics and “slop-jar Delta funk” blues–all full of passion and fervor. Nick has released three original CDs, has performed in thirteen countries and has been nominated for 27 Blues Awards (winning fourteen, including Best Slide Guitar, Performer of the Year, and Best Acoustic Blues Guitar 2009 from the Washington Blues Society).
